As a family owned independent retailer, Moss of Bath always prides itself on providing exceptional customer service. At a time when we are losing the ‘independents’ from our High Street we know that we must stand out from the crowd and offer our customers something more than the retail giants can.

It can be tough to be a retailer during a recession but one thing is certain, as a nation we haven’t given up shopping and in our experience at Moss of Bath, when times are hard, customers will support the well established, trusted, local independent retailer.

Take as an example the recent spell of bad weather which affected the whole of the UK during the run up to Christmas 2010. Media reports about the adverse conditions causing chaos for deliveries were a daily occurrence . Several large retailers stopped taking online Christmas orders earlier than planned and many were forced to cancel their delivery service completely. 

Goods previously guaranteed for Christmas delivery languished in (cold) warehouses across the country and many were not delivered until the beginning of the new year.

During this time I am proud to report that every single member of the Moss of Bath team made it into work and all deliveries and installations were made. I would like to share one particular story....

On one very snowy day we were asked to take two televisions to a customer’s house in order that they could “compare and contrast” between a 32” and a 37” screen (something that we are always happy to do).

For those of you who are familiar with the local area, the house was near the village of Box in a hamlet called Ashley which at the best of times can be tricky for a van to negotiate.

As the lanes narrowed and became harder to drive along the guys realised that it would be impossible to get the van anywhere near the customer’s house.

So...they parked at the bottom of Doctors Hill and continued with their delivery on foot, in the snow, for about 1k.

This is an example of what I mean when I say that Moss of Bath will always offer exceptional customer service and (literally) go the extra mile for you.
